GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS
Ways to Find Graduate Assistantships:
Handshake: Most offices will post Graduate Assistant positions in Handshake. These postings are typically posted between May and September for the upcoming academic year. New Graduate students that have accepted their offer of admission to Lehigh and have an “Active” student status (paid a deposit to attend Lehigh) will gain access to Handshake when they have registered for a Fall class if they are starting classes in the Summer or Fall semesters. If they are starting classes in the Spring semester, they will gain access to Handshake once they have registered for a Spring class. If you have Handshake questions, please contact the Center for Career & Professional Development at careercenter@lehigh.edu.
Graduate Life Office: Some departments will inform the Graduate Education & Life Office that they are hiring a GA, RA, or TA. These postings will be advertised through the Weekly Buzz newsletter, which can be subscribed to or accessed through the Student Life page.
Faculty/Departments: Not all departments post their available positions on Handshake. Students are encouraged to reach out directly to Lehigh faculty or departments to inquire about open positions. For Teaching Assistantships (TA) and Research Assistantships (RA), often students will find these opportunities through faculty or departments.
GRADUATE ON-CAMPUS WORK OPPORTUNITIES
When searching for on-campus work opportunities on Handshake, you can filter jobs for "On Campus Student Employment" and "Graduate" positions specifically.
Some Lehigh Departments post “Wage” positions on Handshake. These positions are hourly positions (wage positions) that are posted by Lehigh Departments. The positions are typically available to students at all grade levels, not specifically Graduate students.
