Unseen roots provide light for growth

My research focuses on applications of semiconductor devices including LEDs which gave me the idea of designing something around a light bulb and electronics. The roots of the tree power the lightbulb which provides the light for the tree to grow. Overall, I wanted the picture to symbolize the unnoticed hard work that graduate students achieve(the roots) and how this unnoticed work is the foundation for success and growth(the light and the seen part of the tree growing).
